Here are a few pictures of the servo arrangement on my RCA SJT100 CED videodisc player, which I have been trying to repair. This unit relies on well-lubricated gears and rubber belts to move the disc through the tray.
CED stands for Capacitance Electronic Disc and was an interesting technology that experienced a number of developmental setbacks and was released too little too late several years after the project started.
I am hoping that all I need to do is replace the belt. Hopefully, that will be enough to get the player to accept a disc. There are a few other things that can go wrong with these, like the stylus needing to be replaced. I am hoping I get lucky with an easy repair. These players use a stylus much like a record player does, and they can have various amounts of wear.
While researching my machine online, I came across a website called CED Magic that has lots of information and can possibly point you in the direction of some parts for sale. If you find any other websites that currently sell parts, please let me know!
