Owning a collection can be a lot of fun, but when faced with a move, it can be a real rude awakening. I was a little nervous that I had collected so much over the years that I wouldn’t be able to easily move it to my new house.
However, once I got everything in one room and stacked it, I was pleasantly surprised. Below are some photos from my latest move across the country.
Here you can see all of my VHS tapes, video games, computers, and toys packed into tubs and boxes in my dining room.
Below you can see everything packed neatly into one 6x7x8 U-Pack “Relocube.” The cubes are about as high as an average bedroom ceiling, which is about twice as high as I normally like to stack my tubs.
I was happy to see that everything in my collection fit into one cube with almost no extra room. It was satisfying seeing it all packed up and I am excited to unload it and get everything set up in our new house.
In the end, I had to leave the computer monitor and TV behind, but they were not in great condition so it wasn’t that much of a bummer. Sometimes sacrifices must be made. I was able to fit my two Commodore computer monitors from the 1980s into boxes.
The Relocubes were surprisingly large and I was able to stack a ton of Home Depot boxes as well as plastic tubs. The trick is to put the heavier tubs on the bottom and spread the weight as evenly as possible. The lids on the tubs aren’t impervious to being crushed, so be careful!
I packed the rest with blankets nice and tight and closed the doors, next stop Virginia!
