As a fan of the 1992 action/comedy/thriller film Sneakers, one of my favorite pieces of movie memorabilia is its digital press kit. The kit contains a cardboard sleeve with flaps that open to reveal a stapled packet and a 3.5″ floppy diskette. The stapled packet is titled “Universal News” and is a printed version of a text file that is included on the diskette.
The diskette contains a program called “SNEAKERS.EXE,” which is an interactive program that must be experienced to fully understand how incredible it is.
Upon testing the floppy I have, I was excited to discover that it actually works! I have converted the .EXE to a .ZIP file and I am hosting it for download with a link below.

Use the link above to download SNEAKERS.ZIP, which contains the original press kit program, SNEAKERS.EXE. If you are unable to run this natively on your version of Windows, you can make it work using the DOS emulator DOSBox.
Remember, you will need one of two passwords to access the press kit. The best one to use is NECESSARY MOTTO as it grants you access to the entire kit.
I had a great time reading the behind-the-scenes stories and history of how the film was made, and was surprised to find out that the concept for the film started in the early 80s. You can read about the film’s history by selecting the Production Notes option.
This is the front page of the press packet.
